Welcome to Can I Carry There!

Welcome to CanICarryThere.com!  We're attempting to build a comprehensive database of places in your city that allow or forbid concealed carry. This site is designed to be community driven, meaning that it's up to the visitors of the site to add venues to our listing. The site also has a forum where just about anything related to firearms can be discussed. It's not required to sign up for a free membership, but you must be a member to add venues to the database and post on the forums. Don't worry, I won't be sending you a bunch of junk mail!

This is a relatively new site. As I launch it, the database will not have very many listings. It will be up to YOU to add listings to the site. I have prepared an article explaining how to add venues to the database here. As you go about town, pay attention to the doors of places you visit and come here to report if those venues have signs forbidding or permitting concealed carry. Hopefully we can build a comprehensive listing.  To view the database just click the database link in the top menu. If we don't have your locale please let us know by posting in our forums or leaving a comment below.

Thanks for visiting the site!

Flash: Furman University Student Group Pushing For Concealed Carry on Campus

The Allen Arms newsletter detailed a push from a Furman University student group (Conservative Students for a Better Tomorrow) to allow concealed carry on their campus. Furman is located in Greenville, SC. Currently, there are no educational institutions in the state which permit concealed carry. They are holding two meetings open to the public. The march 16th meeting will have guest speaker Larry Pratt, president of Gun Owners of America. John Lott, author of "More Guns, Less Crime" will speak at the March 24th meeting. Both events will be heald at 7:00 pm in the Patrick Lecture Hall, Plyler Hall 126. This could turn out to be a significant event in the state. Further details can be gathered by emailing CSBT at csbtfurman@csbt.org Anyone in the area is encouraged to attend.

Is your city/county not in our database?

Would you like your city/county to be added to our database? If so, please email us at info@canicarrythere.com. You will be asked some questions to taylor the database to your municipality's laws and help us know what questions to ask on our 'submit a venue' form. It's easy! Help us serve your community's CWP holders!

Reading the listing

The listings should be pretty easy to read. They are organized alphabetically by venue name. The first column lists the name of the venue. The second lists the address or cross street. The third shows if concealed carry is permitted at the venue. The fourth column details the type of signage present or not present permitting or prohibiting concealed carry.

It's a good idea to post the venue in the Can I Carry There forum thread if you're unsure if the venue permits concealed carry. There legality of carrying at that particular venue can be discussed.

The best effort is made to keep the listings as accurate as possible, but since the venues are user submitted mistakes can occur. To report an incorrect venue, head over to the forums and post a message in the 'Report Incorrect Venue' thread.

Listings may not come up immediately after the page has loaded. After selecting which listing you would like to view, please allow a few seconds for the database to load.

How to add venues to the listing

It's very simple to add a venue to the listing. Follow these simple steps:

  1. Log in to the site. There's a link on the top right corner of the site.
  2. Go to your municipality's listings page.
  3. Click the link right above the listing that says "Add a listing to ..."
  4. Enter the name of the venue.
  5. Enter the address or nearest cross street. (This helps distinguish between multiple venues with the same name).
  6. Select weather the venue allows concealed carry.
  7. Select how the concealed carry signs are posted, if at all.
  8. Click submit when you're done.

After you complete the form, your venue will be automatically added to the listing for that municipality.
